TOXINS, ENVIRONMENTAL TOXINS

AND WHAT METHYLENETETRAHYDROFOLATE REDUCTASE (MTHFR) HAS TO DO WITH IT

In our environment, in the air we breathe, in our drinking water, in our food, in the things we use every day, the plastic containers, the plastic cladding in our cars, our clothes, in our fields, in our gardens, in our cleaning products, in our cosmetics, etc. - simply everywhere in our environment there are various toxic substances that we constantly absorb into our bodies.

We humans often refer to these substances as "environmental toxins"

Some of them are linked to the occurrence of cancer, others cause neurological complaints and so on.

We probably only know the tip of the iceberg here, as we as humans are constantly developing new substances and introducing them into our "environment". It is often discovered by chance decades later that these may cause serious damage.

For example, it was only discovered around 20 years later that the MRI contrast agent gadolinium can cause brain damage*

Sometimes it seems as if people deliberately want to poison themselves and their fellow human beings, but then you remember: it is simply marketing, i.e. the optimization of income, which creates this offer on the one hand and the anxious (/frightened) consumer on the other hand, who allows himself to be carried away by this consumption.

THE GOOD NEWS

The body has fantastic ways of getting rid of these substances (at least in part).

One important process is known as methylation. Without going into the depths of biochemistry: Methylation is necessary, for example, to remove heavy metals such as mercury, cadmium or lead from the body.

Methylation is significantly influenced by the efficiency of MTHF reductase. An enzyme that is dependent on cobalamin (vitamin B12) and folate, among other things.

There are two known mutations of the gene that "controls" this enzyme and both lead to lower methylation performance, which reduces the ability to detoxify and also has a negative effect on serotonin metabolism - ergo can lead to anxiety, tension and depression.

It is estimated that 40% of the population carries a mutation of this gene.

Just think of the many people with mental health problems...

THE EVEN BETTER NEWS

There is a relatively simple solution for this enzyme deficiency, which can be worked out in consultation with doctors who are familiar with the MTHFR issue. The short version of it:

You already consume the vitamins in question in their methylated form.

In nature, for example, they are found in some offal from beef and other animals. However, there are also corresponding food supplements. These are primarily methylfolate and methylcobalamin, but other so-called methyl group donors such as creatine, choline or betaine may also be relevant.

If you think this might be something for you: Talk to a knowledgeable person.

For my personal recovery, the discovery of the MTHFR topic was one of the main pillars
